Chapter 41

Allowing this information to surface from my brain to my mouth, I told him, “I don’t think this is right that you hunted me down. We shouldn’t be talking about Faye without her being here.”

“You’re blowing this out of proportion. I simply want to buy a gift for Faye. Something small to tell her that I care about her. It’s not that I’m sharing bedroom secrets with you about us.”

“A card,” I said. “Make her a card. Something sweet and simple. Nothing overboard.”

“A card,” he replied, confirming my answer. He reached out for my hand for a shake.

I shook his hand in return and said, “Sometimes we have to be simple as men. It’s how we get by.”
