Chapter 44

The four of us, Matthew, Aiden, Brick, and I, sat in a booth at Sandford Steakhouse. Brick called the place home.

“It makes me feel as if I’m back in Oklahoma.”

Matthew called it out of his budget, but enjoyable since the two men he loved were at his side, Brick and Aiden.

Patiently, we waited for our drinks to be served. Country music played all around us. The waiting staff were dressed like cowboys. And the floor was covered in peanut shells. It wasn’t a bad place to hang out, but not as chic as I personally liked my restaurants.

I sat across from the cowboy and said, “What’s going on with you two? If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you fell in love somewhere along the line.”

Brick turned out to be easy to talk to, always taking the reins in any discussion. “I have to leave for Oklahoma, and…I’m hoping Matthew and Aiden come with me.”

Aiden unhappily said, “I’m not going to be a cowboy. No way. I’m staying here in Pittsburgh. I don’t like cowboys.”
