Reza’s full lips broke into a wide grin and now Eduard didlaugh, a surprised bark that startled them both. He felt a giddy grin pull across his face as his heart quickened. “That’s it?” he asked. “Just me?”

With another laugh, Eduard pulled Reza to him, hungry to claim the man. But as his lips brushed over Reza’s, a tremor shook the earth beneath their feet. Around them, wood creaked and rocks rattled, and from the nearby trees, birds took flight, bursting into the afternoon air. “Damn,” Eduard muttered. “Even the earth conspires against us.”
