Vic gave him a strange, sideways glance. “Oz. Remember?”

Oh, yes, right.Matt opened his mouth to say he knew this was a dream, no matter how real it might seem, when his stomach growled, interrupting him. Wrapping an arm around his waist, he laughed. “Damn, I’m starving.”

“There’s an orchard up ahead.” Vic pointed ahead to where the trees crept closer to the road.

As if he’d thrown something for her to chase after, Sadie took off, heading for the trees. They had a cultivated air about them, but Matt saw that, beyond the orchard, the road darkened as the trees grew tightly together. He didn’t really want to go in there. He could imagine all too well Roxie lying in wait somewhere up ahead, and how did the song go? Lions, and tigers, and bears…
