“The guys and Noah are checking out any vacant buildings. Since they haven’t gotten back to me I’m presuming Noah didn’t see a life-sucker in the process. That means I’ll do my own checking once they give me the list.”
“I can help with that,” John told him as he sat down on one of the stools at the counter. “Will they everbe wiped out?”
“God, I hope so. Although maybe not in our lifetime. They’re like cockroaches, for lack of a better description.” He smiled dryly. “At least we’ve found the Raid, so there’s hope.”
“Makes you wonder how many deaths in small towns that have been put down to the flu were really the work of the life-suckers.”
“More than I like to think about, I’m afraid. We do track epidemics, but too often by the time we find out it’s not the flu but them, it’s too late to save some people.”
“At least this time you got here beforeit became an epidemic.” John frowned, tapping his fingers on the counter. “Do they always move this slowly?”
