Flustered, Jory tried to explain. “No, well, see, he wasn’t…”

Bruce playfully nudged him with his elbow. “Aw, yeah. While I’m chatting up the missus, you’re over here scoring it big. Did you give him your number?” Jory turned away, embarrassed, but Bruce laughed with delight. “Woo! And he scores!”

“Not yet,” Jory cautioned, but secretly? He hoped so. God, he really did.

Peter called earlier than Jory expected. What was the rule, again? Wait a day, or was it three? He didn’t know, but he was pleasantly surprised when his cell rang on his way home from the office that evening. Not recognizing the number, he hoped it was Peter. “Hello?”

The warm voice filled his ear, confirming the caller’s identity. “Remember me?” Peter purred.

Jory felt his face heat up with a sudden blush. “I hadn’t expected you to call so soon.”

“I can hang up,” Peter teased.

Jory quickly told him, “No, don’t you dare.”
