“Here,” Mickey said as he put the straw to my mouth so I could take a few sips.

“Thanks,” I replied as he set the glass on the table. “What are you guys doing here? Where’s Guff? What happened to Catia?”

“One question at a time, Peaches,” Jackson said, and the scowl I gave him made him laugh. “Oh, good, you’re almost back to normal.”

I made an impatient noise and he relented.

“Catia and her underlings are in jail. People started coming out of the woodwork with testimonies and all this stuff about things she’s perpetrated over the years once they realized she couldn’t hurt them anymore. It’s over, Jer. And Guff is free to do as he likes, all because of you, and no thanks to our sorry asses.”

I shrugged. “He needed help, and I wanted to give it, whether or not money was involved.” I looked each man in the eye and they sheepishly returned my stare. “So where is Guff?”
