At least, if Angel wants to teach me all she knows about guns, I won’t come across as a complete novice.

I realized, with that thought, I was more than halfway to accepting Reynolds’ offer. All I had to do was convince myself I had it in me to pull the trigger when the time came.

I didn’t sleep well that night, after coming home from my first, if unofficial, day at the bar. I kept going over and over everything I’d done to help Mick, and everything he’d told me about what he did to complete a job. He never sugarcoated it. “I don’t want you romanticizing what I do,” he’d said. “This isn’t a movie, or a TV show.”

I was well aware of that, although there were times when I wished he’d been a little less graphic. Overall, however, I was able to accept it. My dark side coming out? Probably, I figured. Now the question had become, was it strong enough to allow me to do what Reynolds considered necessary

Only one way to find out, I guess. 3

I called Reynolds around noon the next day.
