Chapter 26

“Stop stalling.” Doyle swept a piece of donut glazing off his pants and moved his knee side to side.

Kord stretched out his hand and Doyle noticed it was shaking almost imperceptibly. He said nothing, instead waited for the big blond to complete his dare.

Finally, Kord’s hand made contact with Doyle’s knee. It was warm then hot then Doyle could feel the moisture of sweat from Kord’s hand. Ten seconds passed, then twenty, then thirty and before they noticed, a minute had passed. Kord, however, didn’t pull back his hand for another thirty seconds.

“Satisfied?”

“That’s not the word I’d use, but I’m glad you completed your dare or you wouldn’t be getting any more donuts the rest of the day.”

“My turn,” Kord said. And Doyle could see that he had something planned that would make him squirm.

Doyle turned to face him as best he could in the cramped Toyota. Kord, still smirking, began to say something.
