Chapter 27

“Oh hell no,” Mars exclaimed when a slender young woman with long, raven hair came into view.

She grinned. “And hello to you too.”

Alastair looked as if he was trying not to laugh while introducing her to Dylan as, “Vicki, Mars’ younger sister.”

Dylan looked at her, then Mars. He could see a family resemblance in the shape of their eyebrows and the curve of their lips. “You have a sister?”

“He does,” Vicki replied. “As much as he hates to admit it.” She looked Dylan over with a knowing eye. “His? Or are you up for grabs?”

“You did not just go there, Vic,” Mars spat out, chuckling seconds later. “Now you know why I never talk about her. She’s irresponsible and irrepressible when she’s not on a job.”

“Am not,” Vicki replied. “I just call things as I see them. So?” She shot Dylan a questioning glance.

“I’m gay, and Mars and I are…” He shrugged.

“Working on getting personal. Got it. Where’s your bike, Mars?”

“Around back.” He got up slowly. “Come on, I’ll show you.”
