Chapter 53

Dylan rolled his eyes. “That’s not happening and you know it. You’re in no shape, and we’ll probably both fall asleep before we finish undressing.”

Prophetic words on Dylan’s part. They did remove their shirts, and after sitting on the edge of Mars’ bed, their shoes. Somehow they didn’t manage to get up again to take off their pants. Instead, Mars fell back, dead asleep before his head hit the pillow. Figuring what the hell, Dylan lifted Mars’ legs onto the bed, spooned behind him, and passed out.

Dylan woke to the afternoon sun streaming through Mars’ bedroom window. The light accented the sharp line of his lover’s jaw and the arch of his eyebrows.

Damn, he’s handsome. Not that I didn’t know it, but somehow, right now…Maybe it’s because it’s the first time I’ve had a chance to look at him as someone other than a man who’s been doing his best to keep me safe. The man I owe my life to, although I know he’d debate it.
