Chapter 76

“Told him what?” Paul asked, coming down the hallway from the back of the house with another man in tow. “Hey, Dylan, it’s been a while. Where’s Mars?”

“Right behind you,” Mars said. He put the packs at the bottom of the stairs. “Hello. I’m Mars, and you are?” he asked the man with Paul.

“Taylor Graham.”

“He’s been here for the last couple of days.”

“Fun, isn’t it,” Dylan said with a wry smile.

“I’m enjoying it,” Taylor said tightly. “Everything I’m leaning will come in useful.”

“O-okay. Mars, why don’t we get upstairs and unpack. Then we can see what Alastair has in store for us.”

Mars nodded, tossing Dylan his backpack. As soon as they were out of earshot, Dylan said, “He’s got a stick up his ass a mile long.”

“Or he’s scared he won’t make the grade and is putting up a front.”

“True, but damn.” Dylan looked at the doors of the two rooms they’d used last time they were at the compound. “Your place or mine?”
