“Get your laptop,” Gregg suggested. “It’ll be easier than lugging all these into the office.”
“Great idea.” Spence did, and they set to work.
“Nope, again,” Spence said much later, looking for yet another title and publication date that Gregg read off to him. “Several of them, but the wrong dates and the one we have isn’t a first edition. Next?” He rubbed his eyes, wishing the information on the website was printed about four points larger.
“Now this is interesting,” Gregg said as he took the next book from the shelf and opened it. “The dust jacket says Lost Horizon, but under it is another one, enclosed in clear plastic, for The Sun Also Risesby Hemingway.”
“What’s the publication date?”
“It’s 1926. Publisher was Charles Schribner’s and Sons. First edition.”
Spence’s pulse began to race. “Describe the cover.”
