Chapter 7

“This is it,” Katelyn said, leaning against the doorway and taking a pack of cigarettes out of her jacket pocket.

Felix had gotten as much information from Katelyn as she was willing to give so he made his way through the enclosed seating area into a small lobby heavy on the woodwork and framed photographs. No one was at the small front desk, so Felix decided to go up the stairs. Either side of the lower level seemed to be a dining area and a small bar. Of the four possible choices upstairs, he could hear Sam on his phone behind the nearest door to the stairs.

“…not really sure,” Sam was saying as Felix walked in. He nodded in Felix’s direction but continued his conversation. “It shouldn’t be long. I’m sure the lady at the front desk can tell you how much more it’ll be.”

Felix lay down on one of the two beds occupying the room and put his arm over his eyes. Having IV fluids had helped his headache, but jogging the few blocks to the hotel had not.
