Chapter 39

“It’s stupid that you’re still thinking about him, you idiot,” he told himself as he stood. He should head back to his room; he didn’t want to start crying where anyone could see him.

The powerful arctic air conditioning hit him as soon as he entered to the hotel. As he approached the elevators, a voice called out, “Here’s today’s hero!”

Reggie was so lost in thought that he hadn’t noticed Ian Donaldson exiting one of the elevators. There was Russell’s realbest friend.

“Oh, hello,” Reggie murmured. “I didn’t see you, Mr. Donaldson.”

He didn’t have the strength to fake a smile. Every muscle of his body was too dulled by fatigue.

“Hey, I’m only a few years older than you,” Ian chided. “Don’t be so formal.”

Reggie blushed. “So…hi. How are you?”

Ian smiled. Then a woman with dark hair appeared beside him. “I’ll go check out,” she said before rushing away.

“I thought you’d already left,” Reggie commented as he watched her go. He wished he too was on a flight going home.
