Chapter 17

“They did, but all the equipment was stolen from the Tahoe.”

James nodded as he pursed his lips. “Right now your brother and Abrams are suspects in the murders of Megan Sanderson, Charity Grobin, and Jennifer Matthews.”

“They didn’t do it,” Chris said. “We know what this looks like, but they’re only running because the killer threatened to get them arrested and then get me. Dylan couldn’t risk that.”

Reynolds stepped closer.

“We’ll also be searching their homes,” James said.

Chris leaned close to James and said quietly, “Why are you doing this?”

“It’s my job,” James said. “I know you’re involved in this and I don’t like it, but this is what I do. If you’re helping them, you better get used to it. Just know I’m probably the only person who can save your ass, so help me find them.”

Chris sighed. “I don’t know where they are.”

James looked at him a moment, then shook his head. “We willcatch them. Think carefully about your place in this.”
