Chapter 27

“I’ve been calling the flower shops,” Carol said as she handed him a small notepad. “I found one that reported a large purchase of snapdragons by Ronald Abrams two days ago.” She frowned as she pointed to her note with the name and number of the florist.

“Snapdragons?” Neeta asked. “The cops came in asking me about snapdragons just the other day.” Neeta stepped closer to him. “I don’t get a lot of orders for them, but Ron ordered some recently.”

“Ron? OurRon?” Chris asked.

“Yes.”

“Did you tell that to the cops?”

“Yes.”

Chris exchanged a glance with Carol.

“He got them for you,” Neeta said with a grin.

Chris gulped. “Me?”

“Ron sure is a cutie,” Neeta said.

“When did he buy them?”

“About three weeks ago.” She tilted her head. “Did he give them to you?”

“No,” he said.

“Oh,” Neeta said, her eyes growing wide. “Well, I’ll finish up with the plants here. These orchids need some love.” She returned to the plants in the front windows.
