Ron tapped his hand on the steering wheel. “Okay. Tell Dylan we’re taking a short detour so he doesn’t freak out.”

Chris typed, We’re going to check on Terry, then we’ll meet up with Dad and Thomas.

Ron turned left onto Shamrock Street and drove three blocks and then turned onto Link Street. Four houses down, he pulled into the driveway of Terry’s house.

They ran up to the front door. Ron grabbed the doorknob and shoved his key in the lock. “Terry?” Ron called out as he flung the door open and rushed inside.

The house was dark except for the moonlight shining in the picture window to their right and a light coming from the bedroom down the hall to their left.

Chris’s phone buzzed in his front pocket.

“Ter?” Ron said as he started down the hallway.

Chris pulled the phone from his pocket as he flipped the light switch in the entryway. The light didn’t come on. He tried again. Nothing.

Someone moved in the living room.

“Terry?” Chris asked.
