Chapter 7

Casey made his way to the front door to open it to those who had just arrived.

There was a lot of commotion, but George was able to make out an older man and a woman with a child. The man held a casserole dish covered with aluminum foil, and George recalled Casey saying earlier that Drew’s father was bringing some kind of corn dressing.

Casey had also informed him that the two families had been friends for years, and while Casey was growing up, the families lived next door to each other in a bedroom community in Ventura County, California. They’d spent many Thanksgivings together over the years.

Then George watched as his competition stepped inside. Okay, maybe “competition” was a little much, but he couldn’t help feeling that way. He’d been attracted to Casey for months. Obviously that’s why things got out of hand during the plumbing incident.
