“Sorry, kid.” Hellfire hugged his lower body. “I really shouldn’t have done this to you. But I’m working on it. Don’t give up on me, yet.”

“I’m going to tell them anyway. Maybe they won’t mind that I’m not meant to be.”

“If you tell them, you’ll break the spell.”

“What does that mean?”

“You’ll melt instantly. Right before their eyes and they’ll never have any memory that you even existed at all.”Chapter 8: Wyatt

Wyatt checked his phone for the third time that day, but found nothing beyond random social media alerts. He plugged it into charger before grabbing some cereal from the kitchen, eating with his hands directly from the box.

“We’re on our own for breakfast, then?” Oliver ran his hands absentmindedly through his hair.

“Oh, yeah,” Wyatt said. “Sorry. I didn’t really think. Is that okay?”

Oliver shrugged. “It’s whatever. No big deal.” He took down his box of strawberry Pop Tarts, but put it back.
