“Well, look here,” Mike said. He had the box of threads in one hand, the pen lying on the tissue in his other hand.

“It’s a frame-up,” Carrie said angrily as she darted out of the shop. She didn’t get far. The officer followed, taking her arm firmly to stop her, before leading her, as she struggled every step of the way, back inside.

“Miss Lyons, I’m going to ask you to accompany me down to the station. You can make it easy on yourself and come willingly, or I can have Officer Norton handcuff you. It’s your choice.”

“I want a lawyer,” Carrie replied. “I’m being framed and you know it.”

“You’re not under arrest,” Mike pointed out.
