Gage explained that the hotel’s laundry service was going to clean the clothes Kegan had been wearing and bring them back. “I think you made her day,” he added with a grin as he took a seat in one of the chairs in front of the window. “Now, do you want to tell me why you obviously decided to play homeless? No. Never mind. I think I can guess. You were spying on Hardy.”

“I was, and with some success.” Kegan went on to tell him what had happened. “They’re definitely looking for us.”

“Big surprise. You’re sure the man you saw was Patterson.”

“That’s how Hardy addressed him. He’s not bad looking, if you don’t mind the aura of I’m in charge of the worldhe has. Like he expects everyone to drop and do ten if he even frowns at them. By the way, he considers us some of the best men working for the Agency.”
