Chapter 17

“Okay, tell me exactly what happened,” Mark directed his caller once he’d determined the intersection in question.

“He ran the stop sign. Just like that! He barely even slowed down. I have his license plate number. People could have been killed!”

“Yes, ma’am. I understand your concern. Let me get a description of the vehicle for my officers so they can keep an eye out for him.”

“I have his license plate number!”

“Great. I’ll get that from you in a second. What color was this vehicle?”

“Color? I have his license plate number. I don’t know what color it was. Gray, I guess. Or silver. Or red.”

“Do you remember if it was gray or red?”

“Coulda been blue for all I know.”

Unknown color, Mark typed as he asked, “Was it a car, a truck, an SUV?”

“What?”

“What kind of vehicle was it? A sports car? A pickup truck?”

“Yeah.”

“It was a truck?”

“Or a car, I don’t know. What’s with all the questions?”
