Starr let out a sleepy chuckle. “What did you say?”
Mark shrugged. “I don’t know. Nothing. ‘He’s not,’ I guess.” His eyes were getting heavy. He snuggled down into the covers, up against Starr. “I wish I would have said, ‘Originally? Same part as you.’” He teetered on the edge of consciousness. “Just tell me they’re going to be okay,” he managed to mutter before he slipped completely under. If Starr was awake enough to honor this request, Mark was long gone before he did.
