Mrs. Rose Thornton had questioned the siren as soon as Moira explained to the older woman about Cynthia’s diagnosis. Aurelius squeezed his lover’s hand tightly in assurance and a gesture of silent support. He knew that the witch had been feeling guilty over the last two days while they waited for the results. Dylan also told him that even the adorable kindergartners in school had noticed their teacher was much less cheerful than usual.
“She almost died. Fortunately, the doctor was able to save her. However, her organs had burned from the inside out. I have a hunch that only her magic had prevented her from an instant death. She seems to be healing, though.”
