“Do you ever think of coming back? I’d love to have you around, and Bernice would keep on talking about your skills in the kitchen, or bedroom, or wherever it was that you impressed her so much. I have my rent paid for the rest of the year. Take over my place. I’ll stay with Joey and Moe, and that other guy, the doctor. Dad, I’ve never felt about someone before as I do about Peter. Thanks for trying to understand. I know it isn’t easy, but I appreciate the effort.”
George looked at his son and beamed. “You’d really want me back here? I got a job there but it is only to put in time. Maybe I could get on at my old place here, or something similar. I’m getting a bit old to be operating equipment, but I could probably teach the young bucks.”
