The men were delighted to hear her call them ‘Daddy.’ “Come on, sweetie, let’s find Cody. We’ll go for a walk around the grounds of the lodge. Tomorrow, we’ll get dressed for a hike. I’ll show you where your daddies saw a bear.” Peter looked at Russell and smiled.
They found Cody with Grandpa. He was hard at work making wood whistles. Cody watched, fascinated, while he quickly completed one, tested it, and handed it to him.
Maria went running over. “Please Grandpa, make one for me, too.”
George grinned and cut another section off the small piece of willow sapling they found near a marshy area at the edge of the property.
Russell smiled to see his father skillfully craft a simple thing for his granddaughter.
Maria ran over to Dwayne. “Granddad, want me to ask Grandpa to make one for you, too?”
