Chapter 58

Waving at me, June left the office and I grabbed my usual morning java and headed for my desk

“Hey, Cranwick!”

I bumped into the cubicle on my right. Man, I really needed to stop doing that. “Justin. What’s up?”

He joined me and we walked together to our stations. “I was just checking up on you. Must be tired with only a few hours’ sleep. You okay, man?” He touched my lower back lightly and I just about melted into the floor.

Composing myself, I responded, “I’ll be okay. I just have to make it through the day. I have tomorrow off and the whole weekend. It’ll be good.”

His hand fell away as we made it to our desks. “That’s good to hear. I was worried about you. Those pretty brown eyes of yours looked so sleepy last night.” He bumped into me when I stopped suddenly, shocked by his words.

“Did you just say my brown eyes were pretty?” I asked, incredulous. There was no way he meant it.
