The guy walked away, and Van thought about how no one seemed disturbed or disgusted by his relationship with Hunter. Van’s own family and friends all understood, but he didn’t realize others would be as accepting. “Get the fuck down!” the young guy who had comforted him a moment ago yelled as he jumped on Van’s back to cover him from the gun shots.
