And the risk she now posed to Io made him sick, angry with himself.

Upon returning home, he landed heavily on the balcony and rushed into the room, only to find the bed empty, his beloved Io nowhere in sight. Fear rushed through Cinder as he turned to head for the door, stopping short when a beautifully naked Io stumbled out of the bathroom, rubbing his eyes. His hair was tousled and the last ray of moonlight for the night splashed across his form, making it seem as though he glowed.

Cinder felt his heart swell. He raced across the room.

“Cinder…oomph.”

He threw his arms around Io, dragging the omega into an embrace.

“Love you…but…” Io managed to whisper a few seconds later. “Can’t…breathe…”
