“We’re very glad to meet you,” his mom said. “We’ve become extremely fond of Barnaby.”
Calvin nodded. “Yes, everyone does. He’s hard to resist.”
Matt rested his hand on Calvin’s shoulder. “So, what were you all talking about? Don’t tell me politics, Joe.”
Joe flushed. “No. Well, a little.”
Calvin’s grandmother and his mother laughed and as they started talking about the upcoming summer and how hot it was supposed to be according to experts, he felt Calvin relax under his hand.

A few hours later, in the late afternoon, Matt and Calvin headed back to Matt’s apartment. He’d been unable to stop thinking about what he planned to do to Calvin as soon as they were alone. It had been a fun day and Calvin had even loosened up enough to play horseshoes.
When they got to his apartment, Matt put his plan for a little something extra in motion. He grabbed Calvin’s hand when he went toward the apartment.
