“Hi, this is Drew Richards. I wanted to leave a message for Mark.”

“Well, I think he’s available right now. Why don’t I just—”

“No,” he said quickly. “I don’t have time to talk. Just tell him not to come for coffee this afternoon, okay? I can’t make it.”

“Uh-huh, got it.”

“Thanks.” Drew sighed and returned the phone to his back pocket. He hadn’t gone into work at the shop today. He’d told his mom he wasn’t feeling well. Not quite a lie as he felt like crap

He felt a bit guilty for abandoning his mother to it, but the days had been slow, and tonight they were going to meet with Gil Saunders to get everything in motion for the sale.

Drew sat in their backyard swing, a nice sea breeze making the otherwise sunny, warm day bearable.
