“I don’t know,” Matt admitted. “Maybe he likes me or something, who knows? Don’t worry about him.”
Vic groused, “I wasn’t worried until you brought him up. What’s he doing asking about you? What’d he want to know?”
Matt let out an exasperated sigh. “I don’t know, okay? This story isn’t about him, it’s about Roxie.”
“What about Roxie?” Vic wasn’t sure he wanted to let it go. Who the hell went around asking about someone unless he had some sort of ulterior motive? “Who wasthis guy?”
“No one, damn. Calm down.”
But Vic couldn’t. “Matty…”
“Babe, listen.”
But instead of saying anything, Matt took one of Vic’s hands in both of his and laced their fingers together. Then he hugged it close to his chest. The thatch of dark curls swirled across his pecs tickled Vic’s knuckles.
“Vic, look at me.” Matt ducked his head to get into Vic’s line of sight. “Hey. What’s this all about?”
“Who’s this guy?” Vic asked again. “Don’t say no one. What did he want to know about you for? Was it Jordan?”
