“Michael is in a whole other league.” Sam turned his head so he could see Blake out of one eye. “And I know what you’re thinking. Sam cracked another smile at Blake’s attempt at a joke. “I didn’t really think the gene would make a difference. I mean, I know everyone says it does. But I really thought that nothing could be better than familiarity—you know, when you truly trust someone and you have the experience to back it up. But I really think it does.
