Chapter 4

Most of the POU agents had become familiar with camping out. Even those city-bred seemed to adapt, but just as the bulk of them were gay, most were also from rural or small town backgrounds. He’d never quite figured out what either trait had to do with holding unusual powers and senses. However they seemed to come as a package. Neither bothered him, anyway.

They’d set up camp at the end of a winding dirt track, a spot where few without knowledge of the area and business out in semi-wilderness would have any reason to come. That gave them better access to whatever invaders had begun to appear and less chance of involving innocent people. A circle of small motor homes, tents, and a couple of trucks of equipment formed the camp.
