It was a little after one when he got back to the building. He was checking his mailbox when he heard a sigh from behind him. Turning, he saw Leanne. Before he could say anything, she held up her hand.

“I owe you an apology,” she said. “Or…something. I swear I didn’t know it was my grandfather. I should have put it together, but…” She clenched her hands together. “He loves me, and he always…He was a nice man, Tony. Honest. I don’t know what got into him and I’m sorry you had to suffer because of it. I’m sorry those poor guys died. I really am.” Tears started to slide down her cheeks. “I’ve moved out, in case you didn’t know. I just came back to give the manager my keys.”
