Chapter 3

“Let’s just say I’ve dabbled in drugs, alcohol, and hustling. During that rough time, I lived on the streets. It was tough. Probably one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life. This is the reason why I work for Golden Light today. I try to help change lives on the streets through my own personal, past experiences. I work with a lot of younger people and help steer them into programs, finding housing.”

“Sounds like you do more than just find housing for them.”

He nodded. “This is true. Some of the younger men on the streets look up to me. Most of them are gay and kicked out of their families. I tend to help them the most. Some of them have gotten off the drugs and stopped hustling. Of course, I can’t save them all, but I try.”

“Do you see yourself as a hero?”

He shook his head. “Not in the slightest. I’m just trying to be the best man I can be while on this planet. If I can’t help find people homes and help them out on this adventure, then who am I? No one, I think.”
