Chapter 6

Three hours later, and no sign of Alex. All of Dawson’s belongings were removed from the apartment, leaving the place half empty, as if he hadn’t ever lived with me. Celebrating the move in my kitchen, we clicked long-neck bottles of Rolling Rock together.

“I’m sure I forgot a few things.”

“I can drop them off at your new place.”

He nodded, grinned, obviously pleased with my comment. “Thanks. You’re handling this well. We’ve lived together for a very long time.”

“Trust me, it’s not easy. But I’m a grown man and can handle it. As I’ve said before, don’t worry about me.”

“I will worry about you, though.” He gave me a gentle hug of friendship and proved we would share amity together for years to come.
