“You are thinking Blue Bird not only was trying to hide from you but perhaps went to these men willingly?” Madame asked, both eyebrows raised. “And if Wisp was going to this certain place to think, how was it you, Behemoth, ended up there, also?”

“Wisp and I had some issues to get straight between us,” Behemoth said. “So when I saw him leave The Compound, I followed him visually, keeping my distance from him.”

Wisp marveled at the control of his friend. He wasn’t even blushing but Wisp could feel the red creeping up the back of his neck.

“Did you see Blue Bird?”

“No. Wisp told me he had seen her.”

“And did you get these—eh—things straight between the two of you?”

Behemoth flashed a look at Wisp but went on. “Yes, I believe we did. Wisp?”

Wisp shot his friend and evil look and agreed. “Yes, we’re fine.”
