Chapter 8

“A goner?”

“You know, gone. Dead. Eaten.”

Ezra’s smile returned. “I can’t apologise enough, but I can assure you there aren’t any sharks around here. There was one a little further south, but she was heading away from us, so she won’t bother anyone here.”

Liam was puzzled. “How do you know that?”

“I saw her with my own eyes,” said Ezra, matter-of-factly.

Liam stared at Ezra in disbelief. “You saw her? Even if you did see a shark, how can you tell by looking that it was a her?”

It was Ezra’s turn to appear baffled. “It’s obvious, isn’t it?”

Liam couldn’t be sure whether Ezra was playing around with him or not, and decided to change the topic. “You seem to come here as often as I do.”

“I come here every day. I come to see my sister, Desrina. You might have seen her. She’s most beautiful. Long blonde hair. Nothing like me.” He laughed.

“I don’t think so. Not that I recall.”
