Chapter 15

“I’m very pleased to meet you,” she said, her voice like a sea breeze through beach grass. “I mean, meet you properly. I think we passed each other in the sea.”

“It’s an honour,” said Liam. “And yes, we did.” He laughed. “Ezra has told me so much about you.”

A wave rolled in and all three of them rose with it, with barely a break in their introductions.

“And he has told me about you,” said Desrina, smiling so her green eyes twinkled.

“All good, I hope.” Inwardly, he cringed. A clichéd response.

“How could it not be?” she replied. “You’ve made him happier than I’ve seen him in many, many years.”

Her wide eyes were on him, smiling along with her mouth, and he regretted breaking contact with them at the compliment.

“He’s made me very happy,” replied Liam sheepishly. “And I’m lucky to have such a handsome man by my side.”

Desrina’s smile broadened. Her hand stroked her brother’s arm. “He is very handsome. But so are you. I would say it’s a perfect match.”
