Flame and Snow

Akton was right. He needed to stop showing off. It had been foolish—he might be getting them locked up or executed. Talfryn licked his lips and glanced at the six Guard watching him get naked. If the same was happening to Akton, if they went through his belongings…


“Hurry up,” said the Guard farthest to the left. Talfryn hurriedly folded his pants and added them to his shirt. Exposed to the air, concerned about what was going on, his skin broke out in goosebumps and he fought the urge to swallow.


He was led down another series of corridors and the air grew colder and clammy. He began to suspect they’d either gone underground or made it to some part of the mountain, but he had no way of knowing that. He hoped Akton was nearby and not terrified. Shit. Talfryn had really gotten them into a situation this time.
