“Won’t have to,” said the officer. “Once the scientists have finished whatever it is they’re doing, it’ll be harvested. Gone forever. So you see, you’re all wasting your time.”
“I don’t like the sound of that,” said Ben. “Come on.”
They pushed their way back through the crowd, earning themselves a few angry words in the process.
“Where are we going?” asked Armand quietly.
“If everyone’s here, that means there’s no one further down.”
“What about the scientists?”
“We’ll wait until they leave. We didn’t come all this way to turn around and go home again.”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to end up in prison.”
“‘Course I’m sure. They aren’t going to throw us in prison for trespassing. It’ll be a fine if we get caught. But I don’t plan on getting caught.” Ben managed to climb through the wire fence with ease. “Just be careful not to let the wires move about too much. It’ll carry all the way along the fence.”
