She held up one hand, finished what she was doing, then said, “Actually, it doesn’t have to be any of us. Or at least not that Grimaldi will know from the description of the person asking for the security footage—if he decides to check. I’m betting we’re not the only ones who want Regotti out of the picture.”

“If he checks, he’ll find out there wasn’t any footage,” Wayne pointed out.

“Then we revise the plan,” Rae said, just as Lou let himself into the room, carrying several takeout bags. “But first, we eat.”

While they did, they filled Lou in on what they’d been talking about. When they finished, he nodded thoughtfully. “There’s one solution to the problem. There won’t be any footage because someone broke into both places and stole the tapes or DVDs from their camera’s recorders from the relevant time period.”
