Chapter 28

Excited, Billy turned his head a little to catch Xavier’s mouth and Xavier pressed his lips to his, his hand moving up an inch on Billy’s thigh. The car swerved into the left lane, and Billy quickly looked at the road again, grabbing the wheel with both hands. “Whoa. Whoa.” He chuckled, but his hands were clammy from the scare. “Okay, no more of that while I’m driving.”

Xavier moved back in his seat and turned the radio up. “Sorry,” he said with a smile in his voice.

“Oh, don’t be sorry.” Billy glanced over, his voice dropping low. “I, uh, love it when you kiss me.”

“Yeah, well, you taste sweet and I can’t figure out why.”

“Cherry Chapstick.”

Xavier stared at him. “You take really good care of yourself. You always look fresh or something. Being on the road is gonna be a challenge for you, no?”

“You mean that I won’t be able to iron my T-shirts and do my elaborate moisturizing routine at night?”

“Don’t be a smart ass, Billy.”
