“Yeah, the arrogant asshole who thought the Natives were only good for putting in Praying towns. So, it’s classic irony, right?” Xavier grabbed his bag out of the trunk and gently shut it. “Don’t say too much, okay? Just be real low key. We’re friends. We’re going to my sister’s wedding out in Biloxi.”

“Yes, CaptainSmith. Whatever.” Billy yawned. “I’ll be Pocahontas if that’s what it takes to get a shower and a bed.”

“You know that whole Pocahontas movie was historically inaccurate, right?”

“Yeah, I figured that much.” Billy rubbed Xavier’s arm. “I never saw it, by the way. So there.”

“All right, let’s check in then.” Xavier walked over to the glass door of the office and peered in. Behind the front desk, a skinny man in a blue velvet track suit was reading a newspaper. Xavier pulled the door open and stepped in. “Hi. How are you?”
