Chapter 51

They walked in, and immediately, Billy relaxed. The atmosphere inside was welcoming and fun, and he felt safe again. He could smile again. Laugh out loud again. Be himself. They pushed through the small crowd of people dancing in the middle of the room, to the gorgeous wooden corner bar. Behind it, a shirtless guy with a killer smile, was fixing some kind of wild drink with pineapples and strawberries. “Okay, wait right here,” Billy screamed close to Xavier’s ear. He’d spotted the washrooms. “I’ll be right back.”

Standing near the bar, in his Metallica T-shirt and ripped black jeans, Xavier gave him a wide-eyed look. “Hurry up.”

“Sit down or something.” Billy rubbed Xavier’s arm and pressed his mouth to Xavier’s ear. “I love you,” he said, touching Xavier’s chest over his thin T-shirt. He walked away, but then looked back to make sure Xavier was all right.
