“‘Cause…I’m a little sloshed.” Billy stared at his white knuckles. “And thought maybe I shouldn’t be drunk-dialing you.”

“And why not?” Xavier laughed softly.

Billy chewed on his lip, everything muddling in his mind. Were they even still a couple? Could he say that he missed him? Loved him still?

Wanted him. Craved his kiss. His touch.

“Hello? Are you there?”

“Yeah,” Billy said, closing his eyes, the room spinning a little. “How’s everything over there? Did you finally get that truck working?”

“Actually, yes. Today. And my dad says I can use it anytime I like. Look, uh, I got a lot to tell you, and so I was thinking that maybe—I mean, if you’re not busy tomorrow night, that maybe we could go play a game of pool at McKenny’s and have a drink? I need to get out of here. Need to be in the city with you. So…will you?”

Billy blinked, not quite sure of anything. “You mean, like a date or something?”
