For the past twenty years, Dane has taken care of his wealthy Aunt Beatrice. One rainy day, she’s killed in a car accident, and Dane is devastated. Ryan

“Hello,” he called, his brow wrinkling as he neared the door.


He opened it to a handsome man in his late-thirties, not much younger than himself. The man was stocky, muscular, and had dark hair and a thick beard and moustache.


“Hi,” said the man, smiling, his teeth bright white against the dark moustache and beard. “It’s me, Ryan.”


Dane was at a loss. Ryan? Who was Ryan? He’d announced himself as though Dane should knowwho he was.


“Your housekeeper. Butler. You advertised online.”


Dane frowned, desperately trying to remember if he’d received any responses, let alone replied to any.


“How did you…?” He stopped himself before he said something that would give the impression of being unhinged.


“You didplace an advertisement on Craigslist? Wanted: One housekeeper. Gay male?”


“Light cleaning and some maintenance?”


Dane continued nodding, but he could see Ryan’s smile wavering.


“Please, come in,” he said, stepping aside.
