Chapter 12

“Go on. I want to hear more,” Colt said to Dean.

Dean blushed a little, not used to being the center of attention.

“Well, I would take the orneriest horse and be able to talk with him, almost reason with him. I would take it slow, letting him get to know my scent, let me pet and brush him. Horses are very smart animals, and he would eventually let me ride and rope. There hasn’t been a horse I haven’t broken. The last Appaloosa I worked with took every bit of strength and energy I had. He was a pain in my butt, but, eventually, he came around. He’s my best horse at the ranch. I was about to sell him, but decided on keeping him around. My brother trains, but he’s more into the cattle side of ranching now. He raises quite the stock of Herefords and Angus. We sell locally and internationally, and, of course, we have a few Holsteins.”

Dean saw the confusion on Coop’s face, so he explained.
